Relatives and friends of my grandmother brought her stones from different countries. For STONES I used coloured yarn to attach this inherited collection of stones to a costume from an earlier walking performance. Working with existing material collections that belonged to my ancestors is a way for me, as an artist, to develop work with these forebears as collaborators. This raises certain questions surrounding inheritance: where do these stones come from, to whom or what do they belong and, consequently, what is my position as heir and maker?
